Biography

Richard ‘Seen’ Mirando, born in 1961 in the Bronx, is considered one of the most influential graffiti artists in history. Nicknamed the ‘Godfather of Graffiti’, he began painting in the New York subway at the age of 11.​

In the 1970s and 1980s, his works on New York subway cars became legendary. He developed a unique style characterized by complex lettering, cartoon characters and impressive three-dimensional effects.​

Seen helped transform graffiti from a form of urban expression into an art recognized by galleries and institutions. He was one of the first graffiti artists to exhibit in traditional art galleries.​

His work is not limited to walls and trains: he also creates canvases, sculptures and installations. He has collaborated with numerous brands and his works are part of prestigious collections around the world.​

Today, Seen continues to influence new generations of urban artists and remains a major figure in the international street art scene.
